Hi! 

I’m Irene Tcruz Shimizu and I started the ART AFFIRMATIONS MEMBERSHIP as another way to share my art and words of encouragement with the world.

In 2020, I left the corporate world after 33 years in Human Resources and in various leadership positions. With no formal art education or training, I became a full-time, self- taught artist in March 2021. I have always believed in being of service to others and that’s what led me to my career choices. In 2021, my soul was calling me to serve others in a different way. After four trips to Egypt (2018, 2019, 2021, and 2023), I found my voice and a new calling. I remembered who I truly am and my purpose in this life. Each day I live my opening statement on my website:

“I manifest art to remember my divine magnificence. And love is the answer.”

For those of you who know me, it’s my great joy to share words of encouragement and love. Acts of kindness and compassion make my heart sing. When I was a young child, my father was in the US Navy and away from home for months at a time. I took solace in writing him letters to keep connected and to bring him some sunshine wherever he was deployed. My father was an avid writer (in his early years he was a photojournalist). He loved to read and play Scrabble. He bought me my first paperback dictionary, and I read my books with it by my side (this was way before the internet was invented!) I inherited my love of words from my father.
